With the passage of Assembly Bill 1719, mandatory hands-on CPR training in High Schools & Charter Schools will go into effect statewide in the upcoming LAUSD school year. Several schools in our Lake Balboa community have already taken steps to train and respond to cardiac emergencies on their campuses.

Teachers, Administrators and staff at Valley Alternative Magnet SchoolDaniel Pearl Magnet HS and Gault St. Elementary Schoolwere recently CPR/AED/First Aid trained and certified to provide immediate response to a cardiac emergency. The training was provided through the collaboration of our LBNC Health & Public Safety committee and Training Solutions, a top-rated American Heart Association training provider.

The next phase is to train students to perform hands-on CPR, which has been slated for this Fall. The safety of students, staff and visitors depend on the rapid response to a cardiac arrest emergency, which can help to increase survival rates.

We encourage schools to connect with us locally or with other nearby organizations to enhance their CPR and AED programs to ensure student safety. Prompt response saves lives!

For information and questions, contact James Brown, LBNC Health and Public Safety Committee Chair at [email protected] or call 818-517-6732. And don’t forget to register and reserve a seat for the July 21st FREE community CPR/AED/Basic 1st Aid training class by contacting James.
