Hi, Everybody:  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!  I hope your holidays were wonderful and spent with those you love!  Mine were great, spent with family in the mountains of North Carolina.  No snow, but wind chill temps in the single digits!  Brrrrrr…
Sorry I’m late with this reminder, but I’m down with the flu.  And yes, I did have the shot, so hope it wont be long lived!  My “handlers”, Mary and Rick, are taking great care of me!  Mary’s chicken soup is fabulous!
As I wrote last month, there is NO LBNC EP COMMITTEE MEETING IN JANUARY!  We’ll look forward to seeing you again on February 10th.  But there are some fun things happening that I want you to know about:
Tuesday, January 16th, 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Bill Hopkins’ Granada Hills North NC’s EP Meeting, at 11139 Woodley Ave., Granada Hills.  Christy Adair, CERT Valley Coordinator, will be speaking on CERT Documentation, ICS Structure, and how it applies to CERT Volunteers.
Sunday, January 21st, 12:30 to 2:30 pm, Battalion 10 CERT Community Meeting, Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys Adult Rec Center in the Auditorium, 5056 Van Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91403.  Jeff Edelstein from SOS Survival Products will be speaking about new items on the market and how best to assemble a Disaster Kit/Go Bag for you and your family.
Sunday, January 28th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Battalion 17 CERT Community Meeting,  Fire Station 84 in the Community Room, 21050 Burbank Blvd. in Woodland Hills, CA 91367.  Same topic as above.  And, CERT Captain John Ignatczyk will be attending to discuss CERT in the Valley.
Both Meeting Topics will be about how we need one Go-Bag per person for those quick evacuations, and why we should also have Home/Car Emergency Kits at home for times we need to “shelter in place” until the professional services are accessible.  Jeff will also discuss Battery options (solar and others) and popular Radio choices.

Please bring to the meeting:
Your Emergency Kits, Backpacks or Go Bags (to remind you what is in there and what you still need — and to check for expiration dates.  Also, any new Emergency Toys you’d like to share with the crowd, and your Full PPE (helmet, goggles, dust mask, gloves, vest and flashlight) if you have them.
These are Community Meetings and you do NOT have to be CERT trained to participate!
