Important EP Information

Hi, Everybody:  Hope your summer is going well, and that you'll take a couple minutes to read the following EP information.  We have some really exciting things happening!!!
Our LBNC EP Meeting this month will be held at our EP Bin at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in their parking lot -- not at the Flyaway!!!  To get there, take Woodley Ave. south of Victory.  Drive past the Bus Line, and then take the second driveway to the right. (See the Woodley Lakes Golf Course sign on the left as you turn in.)  Drive to the stop sign.  Turn left into the parking lot.  Take the second aisle to the right and see the tan bin straight ahead (silver ventilator fan on top).  Park and come on over to the bin.  Also, our meeting will begin at 8:00 AM instead of the usual 9:00 o'clock, and we'll go til about 11:00 AM.   Agenda: https://lakebalboanc.org/wp-content/uploads/docs/EPAgenda_2017-07-08.pdf
We'll be working and communicating with other groups, (Encino Chamber of Commerce, other NCs, 3 hospitals, National Guard?) and we'll all be participating in a Disaster Preparedness Drill.  We'll get our meeting business out of the way quickly, and then show you the contents of our bin and explain why our bins will be so important to the LAFD, LAPD, Medical Professionals and CERT trained individuals in the event of a disaster!  PLEASE!  EVEN IF YOU CAN'T STAY FOR THE WHOLE MEETING, DO COME AND SEE THE BIN!
We'll set up an Incident Command System (Bill Hopkins, Chair of the Granada Hills North NC EP Committee), establish radio communications with various groups (Ted Snyder, of the Southern California Preparedness Foundation), and set up a triage tarp and talk about triaging and treating injured individuals (Sandy Joseph).  If you can't make it to the bin, we invite you Hams to tune in to 145.570 simplex, and others to check in on FRS/GMRS (and walkie talkie) radios to Channel 5.  See the attached Flyer for our Agenda.

Erin Huey, Red Cross Instructor Extraordinaire will join us to tell us about her Emergency Medical Responder Class that begins on Tuesday, July 11th that will teach YOU to be the first responder in your neighborhood when professional fire and medical services are not available.  This is the big one, folks!  It's an 80+ hour class that requires lots of study and hard work!  But it's a life changing endeavor, and will help you to save the life of a family member, neighbor, or co-worker.  I assure you, it is worth every penny you will spend and every minute of time you will devote to it.  Please come out on Saturday to ask Erin questions you might have!  Remember -- this is the EMT class without the big toy-box (ambulance)!  This is how to save lives using what you find lying around the house, in your car, or in the trash can!!!  The curriculum can be applied for Title 22, most of CERT Level 2 and all of CERT Level 3.
Also, registration is now open for the Disaster Preparedness Fair to be held on Saturday, October 7th, 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Go to ValleyDisasterFair.com to register.  You'll get a small EP gift when you arrive for registering before the Fair, and remember that EVERYTHING IS FREE -- that includes parking, admission, lunch, (hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and all the fixins), some really good speakers, entertainment for the kids, and great family starter EP Kits!  (Lunch and EP Kits available while supplies last!)  Lots of informative demonstrations and handouts!  And some really interesting vendors, but they won't try to sell you anything! There will also be a small appreciation gift for CERT graduates!  (Wear your vest!)  This is the largest and best Disaster Preparedness Fair in all of Los Angeles, so mark your calendars and register now!
We're really looking forward to seeing many of you Saturday at the EP Bin.  Remember -- closed toed shoes, a hat, water and sun screen!
