Emergency Preparedness - January Update

Happy New Year, Everybody!
We've got a great program for our EP Meeting this Saturday, 1/14/17, 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the 2nd Floor Community Room at the Flyaway Bus Terminal, 7610 Woodley Ave. (NE Corner of Saticoy and Woodley), Lake Balboa, CA 91406.  Plenty of FREE PARKING out front in the short-term lot in the spaces closest to Woodley.  GO INSIDE and take the elevator at the north end of the building, or take the steps out front.

We're starting the year off right by having one of our favorite speakers, ERIN HUEY, Emergency Medical Responder Instructor (CERT 3)/ Red Cross Instructor/Train the Trainer Extraordinaire, who will teach us about Household Hazardous Materials, Home Hazmat Emergencies and Alternative Cleaners.  Erin has such a great knack for making learning fun, and having her as our "Kickoff Speaker" for 2017 is the perfect way to get this year started with a bang!
GREAT NEWS!  Lake Balboa Neighborhood Council is sponsoring CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training in Lake Balboa!  Six weeks of 2-1/12 hour classes (6:30 to 9:00 PM), taught by LAFD Firefighter/ Instructor Susan Jensen, FREE OF CHARGE, beginning March 2nd for 6 consecutive Thursday nights at Lemay Street Elementary School Auditorium.  Learn how to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and co-workers when that inevitable disaster strikes.  THIS IS A LIFE CHANGING CLASS!  You will never think about local disaster in the same way again!  There are no further requirements -- no additional classes you must take, no sign-ups to do other things (though additional information is available).  Just register with Linda Pruett at textmgt@att.net or call (818) 384-8375, and then register on Eventbrite.com.  We expect the class to fill quickly, so do it today!
Also,  the CERT Community Meeting Battalions 10, 14, and 17, (open to everyone, not just CERT graduates!) will have a different time and location this month.  January 22, 2017, 12:30 to 2:30 PM at Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys Rec Center, 5056 Van Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks, 91403 in the Auditorium.   Please click on the attachment below for information from Christy Adair, Battalion 10 Coordinator.  Jeff Edelstein of SOS Survival Products will be the guest speaker at this meeting.  Jeff always has great information on disaster preparedness products and classes and you won't want to miss his presentation!
